When we introduced MyGM into the WWE 2K franchise, we had high hopes of one day bringing online functionality to the mode and we’re excited that this is the year we finally make it a reality.

Of course, there are a whole new host of updates to MyGM besides online play so let’s dive into many of those in our latest Ringside Report!

ONLINE PLAY

Now shifting gears to another one of our established game modes, MyGM, in a franchise first,  supports online play in WWE 2K25.  And it’s not just one on one, online play supports up to 4 players on the same platform.

During setup,  the host can invite up to 3 other friends from their platform’s friends list to join in on the fun.  Once players are ready to go, each participant will draft and then book their shows at the same time.

After each player sets up their card, they will all come together and simulate a show to see the results of their matches and shows. We’ve also added Ready Up screens so that each player can view and move through the mode at the same pace.

Which brings us to save files. Each save file now includes more details such as the game difficulty, AI difficulty, last time played, roster used and the current season and week.

Save Slots

One aspect of the new online support that we’re also pretty excited about is that the save files support Brand and Human/CPU switching.  What that means is that if you are playing a save file and you’d like to invite a friend to join at any point in your season, they can take over for an already established brand/GM that had already been set up as an opponent. In addition, if you’d like to play as another established brand, set up in the save file, you could do that too.

This switching also extends to online save files. Say you and a friend are taking part in an online MyGM season and your friend can’t play during a given week,  you can invite another friend to take their place that week or instead have the CPU take over for their brand.

Online save files can be played offline as well, so if a friend happens to join you in person, you can boot up the online save file and play it locally.

One thing to keep in mind when playing online is that you cannot use a Custom GM or Custom Rosters and matches will be simulated vs playing or spectating. However, if you play that online file locally, the gameplay restrictions won’t apply.

NEW SETTINGS AND TUNING OPTIONS

This year’s MyGM includes a few new setting options that are sure to change things up.

For starters, players will be able to change up the Win conditions meaning you can determine if a game is won by either fans or trophies.  The game’s length can be adjusted as well. While the Hall of Fame at the end of a season is triggered based on trophies, players can now determine how many trophies are required. Players can now also adjust superstar level and Promo Skill when creating a custom roster.

We’ve also increased the higher tiers of cash for the game.  In a fun twist, we’ve added the option to bump up the challenge between players that involves a timer.

We have implemented an optional timer for players who want that additional challenge or to track how long their show bookings take. There is also an optional timer penalty which removes a percentage of the current week's fans if a player does not book their show within their allotted time. No pressure!

As it relates to tuning, we have updated the Extreme difficulty, it now requires 5 matches to be booked every week. The AI has also been tuned to be more strategic about how they play their Power Cards, how they draft and book their shows.

Tuning for Logistics has also been adjusted, including changes to the way some of the match types are unlocked with logistics. Though we still have the setting option to unlock all match types if preferred.

And while fans may be more challenging to obtain this year, Superstars and Match types are cheaper. Lastly, match ratings have been tuned a bit so that Star popularity is weighted slightly higher while Class Synergy is weighted slightly lower.

THE DRAFT, NEW GMS, AND A NEW BRAND

You can’t have MyGM without some actual General Managers and this year we’ve nearly doubled the amount of GMs available, increasing them from 10 to 19, while retaining the Custom Superstar option.

We’re also adding the new NXT Mutiny brand that fans will encounter via MyRISE this year, which has its own arena, look, and Power Card.

When you’re ready to start your Draft, there are a few new things to keep in mind.

Drafts now include all Superstars who are set as Active on their selected rosters. While previous MyGM iterations only used a select random pool of Superstars for the draft, in WWE 2K25.

This creates much larger rosters for players to leverage. We’ve found that while in prior years, brands typically averaged about 12 Superstars each, this year, we anticipate more like 15-20 depending on budgets.

CROSS BRAND PLEs AND NEW MATCH TYPE SUPPORT

PLEs in WWE 2K25 have undergone a bit of a change as they all now act as Cross Brand PLEs, meaning all brands participate in a single show.

PLE Breakdown

They are still competitive but we’ve introduced new unique PLE Power Card rewards for brands whose Superstars win the opener and main events.  You must win these matches to earn these Power Cards, they cannot be earned any other way.  The Superstars themselves who win these matches also gain a Fan Bonus for their brand.

The 10 different PLEs this year include:

  • Backlash
  • King and Queen of the Ring
  • Cash at the Castle
  • Hell in a Cell
  • Money in the Bank
  • SummerSlam
  • Bash in Berlin
  • Bad Blood
  • Survivor Series
  • WrestleMania

Cross-brand PLE openers and main events will be paid for and chosen by the commissioner, meaning brands don’t have to pay for these matches, only select which Superstars will participate. This is still an important decision, though as any superstars who sit out of the PLE will still regain stamina, any superstars who participate may tend to use more stamina.

Midcard and Promo slots will be determined based on the amount of brands participating in a save file, though all brands will receive an equal amount.

King and Queen of the Ring

PLEs will be auto-selected from a pool of available PLEs that fit the appropriate time frame of the season.  While players might encounter Clash at the Castle for their first PLE of Season 1, the start of Season 2 could kick off with Backlash or King and Queen of the Ring.

Of course, larger events like Survivor Series and WrestleMania will always take place at their appropriate times.

Match type support has been updated as well, with Underground, Gauntlet, and Gauntlet Eliminator added to the mix.

Brawls can also be played in any of the three available backstage arenas, including the new WWE Archives and NXT Parking lot environments.  When opting to play or spectate a Brawl match in a local game, one of the three environments will be selected at random.

Finally, here are some additional changes to be on the lookout for:

  • We’ve added new Power Cards, Shake-Ups, and Challenges
  • Power Cards can now roll over from season to season
  • 20 new local talents have been included and each local talent now has their own audio commentary from the announcers during normal 1v1 matches with a bit of backstory included
  • The GM assistant has been expanded to include new tabs. These include;
    • The GM assistant can now be opened from any screen within the mode. This allows more visibility across your brand than ever before.
    • The online tab that allows you to view info and mute other players when playing online.
    • The Brand roster tab, players can now view other players' full rosters at any time.

It’s nearly time for the WWE Draft, so buckle up and get ready to dive into MyGM in WWE 2K25!
